Lingcod, are one of the most sought after game fish by experienced anglers in Alaska. They are also one of the most difficult fish to catch in Alaska. This fish is not for the novice angler. Fishing for lingcod involve jigging at depths of 100ft to 300ft with lead heads that weigh more than a pound.
The payoffs can be awesome, as these fish are some of the best tasting. The meat must be the awesome, because the fish look like something out of Jurassic Park.
The season for Lingcod starts July 1st and the minimum size lingcod that can be retained is 35 inches. While the regulations state that you can keep a daily bag limit of 2 lingcod per person, it is common practice within the Homer charter industry to ask our customers to only keep one per person, per day.
